Another weekend passed. So another hiking post. If you are interested in doing the same hiking trail, read the “Details” section. If you are interested in how the path looks like, see the “Video” section.
|Starting point||Munich Hbf|
|Journey||Take the DB Bahn to Immenstadt. Takes 1.48 hour to reach there.|
|Trail starts at||Walk 0.5km from train station|
|Trail distance||Total distance : 12 km, Elevation difference : 1000m+|
|Trail journey time||Uphill and downhill combined takes:
5 hours without snow.
7 hour with snow.
|Difficulty||Easy without snow.
Medium with snow.
|Equipment needed||A GRÖDEL/CRAMPOONS for some parts during winter. GAITERS are must if there is fresh snow, otherwise your whole shoe will be soaking wet. In winter, carry layers of clothing so that you can remove/add as necessary. When we did the hike it was close to -10 C.|
|Suggestions||Carry enough food to last at/least half-a-day. Carry 1-2 liter of water. In winter the first few huts are closed. The hut that is open in winter is kemptener naturfreundehaus. It will take 4 hours to reach there.
To make the trip more fun, carry a plastic sledge if you have one. On the descent there is path made for sledding. I promise it is fun.
|Ending point||Munich Hbf|
|Total journey time||Trail + Train + Rest stops = 13 hours|
|Total expense||9 euro for the Servus ticket from Munich to Immenstadt
+ 6-7 euro if you eat at the Hut at the top.
